Since then

Keeping up this blog is getting to be hard work since it seems to have turned into a bit of a one man show and I have got my dissertation to think of (ahem). Anyway here is recent news in nuggets:

1. Came second in a teachers’ race on sports day.

2. Have had heartburn ever since

3. Pu quit his job

4. It hasn’t stopped being rainy or cloudy for 2 weeks

5. Bu has his first gig as a gypsy jazz bassist coming up in August.

6. Off to Hachijojima with H & D in a few hours time on a ferry. This is Ian who doesn’t live there anymore.

Pictures will inevitably follow although judging by the last beach photo Bu might well be behind the camera instead of in front of it !

See you all after the weekend.

花火 – or the fireworks of a few days ago

Yes its fading into a distant memory but we had a splendid time watching the Yamashita park fireworks with a pride of Yokohamarama supporters. Bu and Pu got up early to reserve a place and then spent the rest of the afternoon and evening reaching into the cooler box. Needless to say we have spent the last couple of days wisely, recovering.

It was all too much for Pu before it had even started

but it was worth it.

And the days get hotter and hotter

Yes we are still alive but only just. Bu is dripping and Pu is watching TV dramas. Very little to add to the social whirl which is somebody else’s life but things are picking up. Fireworks this weekend. The school term finished today. Still haven’t started my dissertation. Don’t desert us!!!!

On a cold and grey Hayama dawn…

Yes, to coincide with the official opening of Japan’s beaches we went down to Hayama to meet up with R&K. It was a bit chilly to say the least once shirts had come off and the sea lapped at our ankles (except Pu who conveniently forgot his swimwear). Don’t know who that portly gent who managed to get into the photo is though.

If you drink one Barossa red this year…

make it this one

Vasarelli Mclaren Vale Pasquale’s selection ‘00

Beautiful balance of herbs and spices with much more complexity than I have ever tasted in a mid-price Australian wine.
