It has now rained solidly for the past four days!!!!!

Went to Kitakamakura yesterday to a money-washing temple. Apparently it is supposed to increase your wealth 2 fold. Just made my wallet a bit damp so far, but here’s hoping!

Had a wonderful experience Sunday night as invited to grope our way through the dark of Sankein gardens in search of fireflies. First time for me so was suitably excited, especially when one took a liking to me and crawled up my T-shirt. I was indeed aglow for a while(well, very faintly). Sick now – I blame the barium rather than the firefly.

Lo and behold the resurrection of Yokohamarama!

Yes, we (or should I say I) am/are back after a very restful two months of blog shirking. Thanks for sticking with us and for your words of encouragement (especially Blueduck). How to start eh? I am sitting here while a very nice man fixes us up with a new sink system in order to make way for our new purchase of a dishwasher. Gone are the days of intense squabbles over who gets their hands soapy. Having a dishwasher is supposed to save us ¥30,000 a year in gas and water bills too! Easy life and saving money – fantastic!

It’s been a very mild winter – so much so that my chocolate brown rose has already started to rot. I haven’t really got a clue how to take care of it though so it will be a miracle if it finally flowers – watch this space. Apart from that I can think of little else to entice you back in to our world with. Got a new bass guitar and still gigging away. Got our text book idea awaiting approval at the publishers and one of my articles has been accepted for publication in a journal (once I’ve written it!) – anyway I hope that’s enough in the way of excuses for not bothering with the blog for so long. I will try to update more regularly from now on so please don’t desert us alltogether. Meanwhile check out the links to our friends’ blogs if you really want to see how one should be kept up.

Absence

Things seem finally to be getting back to normal in the world of Yokohamarama after such a sad month and we are tentatively ready to resume a normal service here – which might mean a little more than one post a month. Anyway here are December’s efforts with bells on.

Clear skies

Started the week with a drop in temperature and the beautiful clear blue skies of Japanese winter and a view of Fuji from the window- may it last forever.

Pretty good mood actually – must be cos we’ve stopped drinking beer (to excess).

Fight

We have just emerged from the mother of all battles more than a little scarred but as always are the better for it – have almost been inspired to write a paper on the pragmatics of intercultural communication (but i wont cos I’m too lazy and still haven’t finished my diss.) Anyway all happiness and light now; Bowie on shuffle in itunes, a beaker of Yebisu in hand and the thought that I have to go and teach my academic writing course tomorrow.

The Wind

Stepped out and was nearly blown off my feet! Back inside now listening to the GO! Team (a belated thanks to Zak) and pretending to write my final chapter. Pu asleep but ready to cook a couple of huge steaks for dinner tonight.

More dental horrors

After my 4th visit to the dentist yesterday he then proceeded to find more things wrong with my teeth and said I would have to come back at least another 4 times! Oh well, serves me right for not having been to one for the past 10 years.
